Research activities undertaken by the R&D department at TEST Zakład Remontowo – Usługowy Research and Technical Analyzes Piotr Staszewski are aimed at developing an innovative algorithm for the modernization of used equipment and systems for pulping and fiberising in papermaking in order to significantly reduce the energy consumption of devices operating in lines technological.
In the R&D project implemented by TEST Z. R – UB and AT, the reduction of electricity consumption is planned to be achieved through structural changes consisting in replacing the classic rotor with a helicoid rotor, as well as simultaneously changing (i.e. rebuilding or replacing) the structure of the hydropulper bowl and changing rotor revolutions process input parameters by simultaneously increasing the concentration of work. In addition to 20% energy savings, the method of fiberising will change, because for a classic rotor, fiberization is carried out by the energy of water particles put into a swirling motion, while for a helicoid rotor, fiberization will take place by rubbing waste paper particles against waste paper particles, which is an added value of the process.
The aim of the project is to develop a tool that is innovative on a global scale, which will redesign any classic hydropulper into a hydropulper with a higher efficiency. The limitation that we impose on the program is the maintenance of the installed power, type of drive transmission and bearing method. This is important to reduce investor costs. This tool will estimate the size of the rotor and the efficiency of the entire process for the given geometry of the hydropulper bowl, which will be able to modernize the fiberising process in the hydropulper and at the same time save 20% of electricity in a universal manner.
The implementation of the project will result in the development of a globally innovative algorithm for the modernization of used equipment and systems for pulping and fiberising in papermaking, which will save at least 20% of energy with low investment outlays.

Research activities undertaken by the R&D Department at TEST Zakład Remontowo – Usługowy Research and Technical Analysis Piotr Staszewski are aimed at developing an innovative system for tensioning the machine web and ensuring its constant tension during operation, eliminating vibrations of the web and its forgiving in various directions.
In the era of optimization of the work of textile, printing or paper machines and at high production speeds, an important element is the stabilization of the moving web of material or supporting fabric (transporting this material). An important element of this process is the appropriate web tension, which is a necessary condition to achieve the assumed parameters of production machines. Measurement of web tension, elimination of vibrations, appropriate shaft geometry and the type of materials used determine the success. This will allow you to eliminate unnecessary downtime, ensure the assumed efficiency and use of working time. The problem of stabilizing production is also the quality of the manufactured products, which means the appropriate use of raw materials – elimination of waste.
For example, in the pulp and paper industry, the problem of extending the working time of paper machines is becoming more and more significant, which is associated with the extension of the working time of machine clothes, including felts. Their frequent replacement generates losses due to machine downtime and costs related to the purchase of felt. In the present situation, reducing the number of stops and extending the working time is the imperative of the moment. The situation is similar in the textile and printing industries.
Thus, the scope of the project and its goal are in line with several identified Regional Smart Specializations of the Opolskie Voivodeship under III. Technologies of the machine and metal industry:
a) Innovative, energy-saving machines, devices and tools used in industry.
b) Automation and electrical installation systems for machines and devices used in industry.
The innovative system of the web tensioner for machines is in line with the assumptions of the above technological groups, which makes the project unquestionably consistent with the identified regional specializations.
The implementation of the project will result in the implementation of a working complete tensioning system for the machine web, which creates wide market opportunities and maximum use of the potential of the expanded and equipped R&D department, as well as providing the company’s offer to the requirements and market demand.
